Shipping Cars in RoRo

In most countries, RoRo is the fastest and least expensive way to have your car shipped overseas than Container shipment.

 What's RoRo?

RoRo is short for "Roll-on, Roll-off' that describes how cargo is loaded and discharged from a vessel. RoRo ships are designed to carry wheeled cargo that is driven on and off the ship.

 How It Works?

At the terminal, your vehicle stays open outside until it's shipped. The cargos are driven on to (rolled on) the vessel and then driven off (rolled off) at the destination port.

 Pros

- Low Price: Generally, RoRo is the cheapest option for a single-vehicle as it only takes up the spaces on the boat. There's also no need to pay for crating and port delivery.

- Time-Saving: Obviously, rolling cargo on board is faster than lifting it with a crane. Unlike Consolidation shipment, you don't have to wait until the container is filled with other cars.

 Cons

- Availability: RoRo is NOT as widely as available as container shipment since some countries don't have an option for international RoRo transport.

- Safety: RoRo shipment has a higher risk of damage and theft than containers since they're not sealed from the elements. There can be exposed to the environment of the cargo deck as well.
