Hyundai's timeless Off-Road
The Hyundai Terracan, produced from 2001 to 2007, is a rugged off-road SUV known
for its durability and solid engineering. Serving as a successor to the Hyundai Galloper,
which was based on the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Terracan offered a fresh design with
excellent off-road capabilities.
First Generation 2001~2004
Launched in 2001, the Terracan was built on the second-generation Mitsubishi Pajero's
chassis, featuring updated styling like tear-shaped headlights and a seven-slat grille.
Available with a 2.9L turbo-diesel, 3.5L gasoline V6, or a 2.4L inline-four, it offered both
manual and automatic transmission options. The cabin was spacious for four, though
the rear seats could be tight for three passengers. The vehicle's 4x4 drivetrain and high
ground clearance made it an ideal off-roader.
Facelift and end of production 2004~2007
In 2004, the Terracan received a facelift with new rectangular fog lights, redesigned
taillights, and updated interior materials, including leather seats and wood accents
for higher trims. The 3.5L V6 gasoline and 2.9L turbo-diesel engines remained, paired
with a 4x4 system for strong performance on various terrains.
Why is the Terracan so beloved despite the years?
Despite its age, the Terracan remains a dependable choice. The solid Mitsubishi chassis,
rugged 4x4 system, and spacious interior continue to make it a reliable vehicle for off-road
enthusiasts and families alike.
